Read
the Bible in a year |
Today's Bible reading is
Isaiah 39-42
|
If you have ever thought about reading the entire
Bible then here is your chance to take up the challenge. The Bible
is not a single narrative written by one person, as we understand
books today. Think of the Bible as a library. It is a collection
of prophecies, histories, prayers, parables and teaching written
down over many centuries. The writings that were considered the
most sacred and thoses that were mostly used by the Jews and later
the Christians were brought together in what we now know as the
Bible.

God in a box? I wonder – do you try and squash God into a box? Do you try and make God too small? Sometimes we make God only as big as we can imagine, and only as powerful as we think He can be. We fail to grasp how ‘broad and long, how high and deep is Christ’s love.’ (Ephesians 3:18). But then, we are mere human beings, and trying to understand the enormity of God and his love for us can be a tricky thing. However, perhaps the most important thing is that we don’t limit God, that we don’t squash him into a box, but that try and grasp the mere size of God, and the intensity of His love for us. | | Awesome love
Loving God, forgive me for the times I fail to grasp the awesomeness of your love for me. Amen

The Lord's
Prayer |
| (traditional form) |
| |
Our Father, |
who art in heaven, |
hallowed be thy
Name; |
thy kingdom come; |
thy will be done; |
on earth as it is in heaven. |
Give us this day our daily bread. |
And forgive us our trespasses, |
as we forgive those who trespass against us. |
And lead us not into temptation; |
but deliver us from evil. |
For thine is the kingdom, |
the power, and the glory, |
for ever and ever, |
Amen |
